Spinal Fusion: Posterior Cervical Fusion

Discs between the bones of the spine in the neck can slip (herniate) and cause significant pain, weakness, numbness in the arms and legs and can potentially lead to spinal cord damage with problems walking or using the restroom. Our specially trained Neurosurgeons remove the posterior portion of the vertebral column, the lamina, allowing the spinal cord and nerve roots to decompress by unroofing the spine. Titanium rods and screws are then used to stabilize and fuse the bones of the spine.
