A compression fracture is the term for the bones of the spine collapsing. This may be caused by trauma, osteoporosis, weakening of the bone, or diseases of the bone. Compression fractures can lead to severe back pain that is worse when standing or walking. Our specially trained Neurosurgeons perform minimally invasive kyphoplasties by inflating a small balloon in the bone and then injecting cement into the space to help restore its height and improve the pain. Many patients have complete relief of their debilitating pain immediately after surgery.
