Baclofen Pump

In patients with severe muscle rigidity related to injuries such as stroke or neurological infections, our specially trained Neurosurgeons may place a Baclofen pump. Baclofen is a medication that causes relaxation of muscle spasm. A small tube (catheter) is placed within the spinal canal and is connected to a pump sitting under the skin of the abdomen. The pump may be specially programmed to release Baclofen into the spinal fluid at a rate and dose that is individualized to each patient.
