Intra-Arterial Avastin for the Treatment of Glioblastoma Multiforme

Our specially trained Comprehensive Vascular Neurosurgeons offer participation in an experimental clinical trial for the intra-arterial injection of a chemotherapy agent, Avastin, directly into a type of brain tumor called glioblastoma multiforme or grade IV glioma. This is available to patients who have failed first line treatment with radiation and Temodar chemotherapy. A minimally invasive cerebral angiogram is performed and small tubes (catheters) are navigated to the area of the brain containing the tumor. Avastin chemotherapy is then delivered directly to the tumor through the vessels of the brain.
