Aneurysm: Endovascular Embolization
A minimally invasive cerebral angiogram is performed to study the appearance of the aneurysm. Based on location, shape, and size of the aneurysm, treatment can be performed on a minimally invasive basis. A small catheter containing specialized tools/devices is inserted in a blood vessel in the groin (femoral artery) and travels inside the arteries to reach the neck and brain. Coils, glue and/or stents are then utilized by our specially trained Comprehensive Vascular Neurosurgeons to reduce/eliminate/divert blood flow into the aneurysm to prevent it from rupturing while maintaining blood flow to the vessels around it.
